Fasciotomy

The fasciotomy is the surgical gesture to treat the compartment syndrome.

A compartment is a group of muscles surrounded by a non-extensible membrane called fascia.

The compartment syndrome is an acute or chronic pain in relation to too great pressure inside the fascia.

The intervention of fasciotomy consists in releasing the muscular body by making an incision of the compressed muscular compartment.

The surgeon incises along the muscle box to eliminate the excessive compression and section the aponeurotic tissue under endoscopic control.
