If the medical treatment fails, tenosynovitis of De Quervain can be treated with a simple surgical procedure.
In the first operative time, a small incision is made at the outer edge of the wrist, at the level of the anatomical snuffbox.
The surgeon then carries out an incision at the level of the sheath that surrounds the tendons responsible for the abnormally large compression. In the course of surgery, the tendons will regain their normal size and will thus be able to slide without inflammatory friction.
